Flutist Emily Thomas is one of the most promising young artists of her generation. Dedicated to communicating the power and relevance of classical music through performance, education, recording, and video, Thomas is driven by destiny, the indefatigable artistic process, and the spiritual unity of music. This vivacious performer thrills audiences throughout the US, Canada, and Europe in solo and chamber music recitals.

Inspiring composers to dedicate concertos, sonatas, and chamber works in her honor, Tho mas finds premiering contemporary works an accelerating experience. Thomas also composes and arranges solo and chamber works, which she regularly performs throughout the world.

Highlights of her past and present seasons include performances at Carnegie Hall (NYC) with the Juilliard Symphony Orchestra and the Chamber Orchestra of New York, Kennedy Center Theatre (DC), Lorin Maazel's private concert Hall in Castleton (VA), Huntsville Symphony Orchestra (AL), and collaborations with Joshua Bell and Christian Tetzlaff at Aspen Festival (CO). Additionally, Thomas is a founding member of Eta3, a flute, clarinet, piano trio, which tours regularly throughout the United States (Eta3.org).

Thomas received her Masters and Bachelors of Music from the accelerated program of The Juilliard School under the tutelage of Robert Langevin, principal flutist of the New York Philharmonic. She was awarded the New Horizon and American Academy of Conductors Fellowships to the Aspen Music Festival and School for three summers studying with Nadine Asin. A native of Huntsville, Alabama, Thomas attended high school at the Interlochen Arts Academy, spending her summers at the Interlochen Arts Camp or Boston University's Tanglewood Institute.

Thomas has appeared on national television as a soloist for the 2007 September 11th ceremony and on the ABC daytime soap "All My Children." Performing twice for the National Public Radio show "From the Top" in addition to numerous local classical music radio stations, Thomas is producing her own show, "Ms. Em for Music," on New York City's Manhattan Neighborhood Network channels.
